Finance Portfolio: Aerospace & Defense
I'm Babacar, a double major student pursuing Finance at EDHEC Business School and Mathematics & Computer Science at Aix Marseille University (AmU). I'm a private pilot, so aviation isn't abstract to me—I want to work in aerospace finance to build client relationships, develop investment strategies, and provide financial guidance for aviation projects.
I built this portfolio to demonstrate technical implementation of aircraft financing, equity research, and risk management—the same frameworks used in aviation finance at leading institutions. I'm eager to keep deepening that knowledge in a junior role.
Aerospace Finance Projects
Aircraft Financing Analysis
Comprehensive aircraft financing models including NPV analysis, sensitivity testing, and fleet optimization for commercial airlines and leasing companies. Advanced DCF modeling with aviation-specific metrics and risk factors.
Aerospace & Defense Equity Research
In-depth equity research covering major aerospace and defense companies with DCF valuations, peer comparisons, and industry outlook analysis. Professional-grade financial modeling and sector analysis.
Aviation Risk & Portfolio Management
Advanced risk management tools for aviation portfolios including VaR modeling, scenario analysis, and comprehensive risk mitigation strategies. Portfolio optimization with aviation-specific risk factors.
Methods & Approach
Approach
I focus on implementing financial models from first principles—DCF, NPV, IRR, VaR, and sensitivity analysis—so that methodology is transparent and auditable. This portfolio applies those techniques to aerospace and defense: aircraft financing, equity research, and portfolio risk.
Each tool is built with the same concepts used in aviation finance: lease vs. buy analysis, DSCR and LTV, stress testing, and risk-adjusted returns. The Documentation page explains the implementation and mathematical foundations for each project.
Relevance to Aviation Finance
The models align with how lessors, airlines, and banks evaluate aircraft investments: financing structure, coverage ratios, and scenario analysis. Equity research and risk sections show valuation and portfolio risk in an aerospace context.
I'm motivated to work in aviation finance to apply this rigor to real transactions—structuring debt, advising clients, and supporting investment decisions with clear, defensible analysis.
